The Department of Meteorology says in a statement that there will be occasional rain or thundershowers in Uva and Southe provinces and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

The announcement also states that there will be several periods of rain in the North-Central Province and Trincomalee district.

In the rest of the island, scattered rain or thundershowers may occur after 2.00 pm.

Heavy rains of about 100 mm are possible in some places in Weste , Sabaragamuwa, Southe , Central and Uva provinces.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
