Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe says that local and foreign players who join the Lanka Premier League (LPL) must pay a tax from their match income.

The minister added that foreign players must pay a tax of at least 20% and local players 15%.
 
The minister also said that neither the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute nor the LPL organizers have obtained approval for holding this tou ament.
