A multi-day fishing vessel with 04 Indian fishermen who had entered the country's territorial waters and were fishing illegally has been taken into custody by the navy.
This was during an inspection conducted in the waters north of Delft Island.
Navy Media Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath stated that the search operation was carried out by the Navy last night (the 26th).
It is reported that steps have been taken to hand over the vessel and the fishermen taken into custody by the navy to the Jaffna Fisheries Inspectorate.
