A person died yesterday (14) after being swept away by a wave while bathing on the beach behind a tourist hotel in Aluthgama.

Police stated that a 45-year-old man from Napawala, Gatahetta, had died in this manner.

The Aluthgama Police stated that the deceased had gone swimming with another group when he was swept away by the wave.
