The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock says that a special program is underway to make the country self-sufficient with the maize harvest during the upcoming Yala season.

Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne stated that accordingly, plans have been made to cultivate maize on 20,000 hectares.

He also said that the gove ment will intervene to purchase this maize harvest.
