The Bribery Commission informed the Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday (11) that former Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne has disconnected his phone and left his house.
It is reported that although he had been notified on several occasions to give a statement, he has been continuously avoiding giving those statements by presenting various false facts, and the officials of the Commission have stated before the court.
Officials of the Bribery Commission have requested the courts to issue a warrant to arrest this suspect, who has been evading the Commission by presenting various false facts and has stated that he is out of the country.
It is reported that the Bribery Commission has the power to arrest suspects involved in this incident, and the magistrate has ordered the Bribery Commission to arrest and produce this suspect using those powers.
He has been accused of causing a loss of over 2.62 billion rupees to the government by transferring a sand mining project at the Kirinda Fisheries Harbor to a Korean company, contrary to legal procedures.
