Commenting on the crisis of air traffic controllers, Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said that immediate action will be taken in this regard.
He mentioned that although the assistance of 148 air traffic controllers is required, 79 controllers are currently working.
Due to this situation, it has become problematic to provide service.
Due to this, the currently working people have to be deployed for 24-hour services.
Accordingly, 50 apprentices are to be recruited for training on the coming 16th to fill the relevant vacancies.
So far Sri Lanka's air traffic control centers have been operated in Katunayake, Mattala, Ratmalana, Jaffna and Batticaloa.
