Scientists have succeeded in discovering a new planet that is believed to be suitable for human habitation.
The Cambridge University team, which says that they have identified small molecules that are the basis for the formation of life, has named it K2-18b.
The planet was discovered by the recently installed James Webb Telescope.
K2-18b, which is about two and a half times the size of Earth, is reported to be 700 trillion miles away from Earth and is orbiting a sun in another galaxy.
Scientists point out that the atmosphere surrounding the planet contains dimethyl sulfide and dimethyl disulfide molecules, gases produced by the respiration of marine plants, plankton, and bacteria, which is a positive sign.
