The Sri Lankan team, which participated in the 4th South Asian Athletics Championships held in India and won the runner-up title, arrived on the island this morning (28).
It is reported that Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage had also arrived at the Katunayake Airport to welcome the Sri Lankan team.
The Sri Lankan team that participated in the South Asian Athletics Championships won a total of 40 medals, including 16 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.
That was by winning the runner-up position in the championship.
Shafia Yamik has won a trio of gold medals in the South Asian Athletics Championships.
