The Department of Wildlife Conservation says that 44 elephant deaths have been reported so far this year.
The department stated that these deaths occurred between January 1 and February 20.
These elephant deaths have been reported due to shootings, unauthorized installation of electrical wiring systems, train accidents, poisoning, and drowning.
The department stated that 10 human deaths have been reported due to wild elephant attacks during the relevant period.
