Sri Lankan cricketer Chamari Athapaththu was selected as the player of the tou ament in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).

That was due to scoring 511 runs, averaging 42.58 and taking 9 wickets.

Athapaththu, the opening batsman who has been excellent for Sri Lanka throughout the year 2023, has been selected as a substitute player in the Sydney Thunders team.

She is the fourth foreign player in their rankings.
