Cyril Ramaphosa Retains Presidency in South Africa



Cyril Ramaphosa has been re-elected as South Africa's president after the ANC forged a coalition with opposition parties.

The new gove ment includes Ramaphosa's ANC, the Democratic Alliance, and smaller parties.

Ramaphosa praised the coalition in his victory speech, emphasizing the need for leaders to work together for the country's benefit.

The coalition deal was finalized after the ANC lost its parliamentary majority for the first time in 30 years.

Mr. Ramaphosa, who assumed office as president and ANC leader replacing Jacob Zuma after a heated power struggle in 2018, retained his position of authority.
