The court has issued notices to former President Maithripala Sirisena, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and others.

That is due to the Supreme Court granting permission to hear a basic human rights petition filed against the removal of Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe from that position by the then President Maithripala Sirisena who served as the Prime Minister of the Good Gove ance Gove ment in 2018.

It is stated that this order has been issued by a three-member Supreme Court bench consisting of S. Thurai Raja, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Achala Vengappuli.
