A Sri Lankan man, Dinush Kurera, has been sentenced to 37 years in prison by the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia, for the brutal murder of his wife, Nelomi Perera, in front of their children.

The court heard that Kurera, 47, killed his 43-year-old wife with an axe about two years ago. It was revealed that Nelomi was preparing to separate from him at the time of the murder.

Judge Amanda Fox, who delivered the sentence, stated that Kurera could be considered for parole after serving 30 years.
