The Govennment Medical Officers' Association has temporarily suspended an island-wide strike that was scheduled to begin at 8.00 am today (31).
Issuing a statement, the association stated that this decision was taken based on the agreements reached during a special discussion held last night (30) between the Minister of Health, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the Director General of Health Services and the Gove ment Medical Officers' Association.
The association stated that it had agreed to suspend the transfers of doctors who were trying to be implemented arbitrarily by violating the accepted methodology by the Ministry of Health, and instead implement the transfers of doctors with a time frame through the accepted methodology.
