Durutu Full Moon Poya falls on today (03).

Many important events in the history of the religion, including the first visit of the Buddha to Sri Lanka, have taken place on a Poya day like today.

Also, on the invitation of Lord Sumana Saman, the Buddha came to Sri Lanka, offered a lock of hair to him, treasured that hair, and built the Mahiyanganaya Seya.
