A fatal accident occurred last night (01) when a three-wheeler and a tipper collided head-on.

It happened in the Punani area, on the Polonnaruwa- Batticaloa road.

The driver of the three-wheeler, a woman who was riding behind, and two people who were seriously injured in the accident were admitted to the Welikanda and Valachchenai hospitals, where a young man died.

The deceased is a 20-year-old resident of the Valachchenai area.
