The Public Utilities Commission has made a unanimous decision to increase electricity bills by 7% in the second quarter of 2026.
Accordingly, the electricity tariff revision will be effective from April 1.
The Ceylon Electricity Board had requested a 13.56% electricity tariff revision from the Public Utilities Commission for the second quarter of this year.
The relevant increases are as follows,
Less than 30 units - 4.3% increase
31 to 60 units - 6.9% increase
61 to 90 units - 6.9% increase
91 to 180 units - 7.2% increase
More than 180 units - 25% increase
