The Irrigation Department has issued a flood wa ing for low-lying areas along the Malwathu Oya basin, following continuous heavy rainfall in parts of the Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, and Mannar districts.

The department wa ed that flooding is likely in the Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretariat in the Anuradhapura District, the Vengalacheddikulam Divisional Secretariat in the Vavuniya District, and the Nanaddan, Musalai, and Madhu Divisional Secretariats in the Mannar District over the next 48 hours.

Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The department has urged the public to stay informed of weather updates and follow instructions from local authorities to mitigate the risks posed by potential flooding.
