By amending the National Film Corporation Act for the first time, Minister Bandula Gunawardena has officially given permission to translate the inte ationally produced biographical film '800' into Sinhala.
He said that this decision is considered a meaningful tribute to Sri Lankan veteran cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan.
Speaking to the media after the release of the trailer of the film, he said that only this film has been given permission to dub the film in Sinhala.
According to the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka, it is forbidden to dubbing foreign films into Sinhala and showing them in cinema halls.
However, the film is currently being screened worldwide in four languages.
