The departure tax levied on passengers departing from the country via Mattala Inte ational Airport has been waived from today (29).

The Ministry of Finance has reportedly issued a special circular stating this.

Accordingly, it has been decided not to levy the $60 departure tax levied on air passengers departing from the country via Mattala Inte ational Airport.

The circular issued by the Ministry of Finance states that this will be in effect until June 26th next year.

This decision has been taken to attract passengers to Mattala Airport.
