The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in many parts of the island after 1.00 pm.

Rain will also occur in the mo ing in the Weste and North-Weste provinces, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannaram, Galle and Matara districts.

Some places in Easte , Uva, North-Central and North-West Provinces may receive heavy rains of more than 75 mm and some places in other areas may receive heavy rains of about 50 mm.
 
Occasional gusty winds in weste and southe coastal areas. (40-50) strong winds are possible.
 
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
