A part of a historic building and its wall in the World Heritage Galle Fort have collapsed due to recent rains.
This building, located on Pradeepagar Street, is reported to be an old house where a local family lived who supported the Dutch who occupied Galle Fort in the 18th century.
This building, which was built with walls made of sea coral, has been dilapidated for some time, but it is currently owned by a foreigner.
Although the building and land were purchased by the foreigner about 25 years ago, no renovation work has been done on it, it is reported.
