The Inte ational Cricket Council (ICC) is set to convene today (29) to finalize the venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The tou ament, initially scheduled to take place in Pakistan, has sparked controversy following the Indian cricket team’s refusal to travel to the host country.
Three proposals are under ICC consideration:
Experts believe the third option is unlikely, citing significant financial and commercial repercussions if India, a key revenue generator, withdraws.
The Champions Trophy, second in prestige only to the ODI World Cup, has not been held since 2017. Scheduled from February 19 to March 9 next year, the tou ament will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches. Notably, Sri Lanka failed to qualify for the event.
A final decision from the ICC is anticipated later today.
