Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says that true freedom is not only the sovereignty of our nation but also the right of all to live with dignity, justice, and freedom from oppression.

The Prime Minister, in her Independence Day message, points out that in ensuring true freedom, an environment in which all can live together without discrimination based on race, religion, caste, tribe, gender, or class must be ensured.

Her Independence Day message also states that building a 'rich country, a beautiful life' should not be limited to words alone but should be demonstrated through action.
