A helicopter carrying Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi crashed while visiting a northe region.
The helicopter had a hard landing due to rough weather in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.
According to Iran news reports there were nine people on board the helicopter, including Iran's 8th president Ebrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister of the country, and seven others.
The helicopter was part of a convoy of three helicopters.
Two of those helicopters were carrying ministers and officials arrived at their destination safely.
A bu ing spot was detected by search teams and rescue forces sent to the Tavil village.
'No survivors were found at the crash site' stated the Iranian state news agency IRINN earlier today.
But according to a senior Iranian official 'President Raisi, the foreign minister and all the passengers in the helicopter were killed in the crash'.
At least 73rescue teams and drones have been appointed to the Iranian president's helicopter crash site.
As President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi was the second most powerful person in the Islamic Republic's political structure. He became president in a historical election in 2021.
