Banks are closed for 5 consecutive days



Next Friday 30th June has been declared as a special bank holiday.

The Prime Minister and Minister of State Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Gove ment, Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena, publishing a magnificent gazette in this regard, says that in accordance with the powers vested in him under Section 10(1) of the Holidays Act No. 29 of 1971, June 30, 2023 will be a special bank holiday.
 
 It is declared that there should be a date.
 
Thus, with the announcement of June 30 as a special bank holiday, banks will be closed for 5 consecutive days.
 
Banks closed on Thursday, June 29 due to Hajji, and the following week, Monday, July 03, due to the full moon day of Adhi Esala, including the weekends on Saturday (July 01) and Sunday (July 02), thus 5 consecutive bank days. 
 
A vacation period will be in effect.
