The Criminal Investigation Department says that there is an increase in complaints received regarding money requests via WhatsApp.

Assistant Superintendent of Police W. G. Jayanethsiri of the department stated that a large number of such complaints have been received by the Criminal Investigation Department in the past few days.

Assistant Superintendent of Police W. G. Jayanethsiri stated that more attention should be paid to these scams when using WhatsApp groups.
