It has been decided that the parliamentary sittings related to the first week of May will be held only on May 8 and 9.

This was at the Parliamentary Affairs Committee held yesterday (21) under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

It is reported that this decision has been taken due to the upcoming local gove ment elections being scheduled for May 6.

Parliamentary business related to these two dates is scheduled to be decided during the first parliamentary week of April.
