Planned 8-Day Mission Turns Into Potential Year-Long Stay for Astronauts in Space



American astronauts Barry 'Butch' Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who embarked on a test mission to the Inte ational Space Station (ISS) on June 5, are now facing an indefinite stay due to issues with their Boeing Starliner spacecraft.

Originally intended to retu after a few days, propulsion system leaks and thruster failures have left them stranded.

NASA is considering options for their retu , including integrating them into a SpaceX Crew Dragon mission scheduled for September, potentially prolonging their mission until February 2025.

While awaiting a decision, they remain active on the ISS and express confidence in their eventual safe retu .
