The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that there will be occasional rains in Weste and Sabaragamuwa provinces, Galle and Matara districts, and several rains in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

In Uva province and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu districts, there will be rain or thundershowers at some places in the evening or at night.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
 
The announcement also stated that when the sun moves south, it will be directly above Sri Lanka's near latitudes from August 28 to September 7.
 
Today (29th) at 12:11 pm, the sun will be at the peak of Palavi (Kilinochchi District) and Chalei (Mulathivu District).
