Robert Downey Jr. is set to retu to the Marvel universe, but not as Iron Man.
Instead, he will take on the role of the iconic villain Doctor Doom in 'Avengers: Doomsday,' slated for release in May 2026, and 'Secret Wars' the following year.
Downey Jr. revealed this surprising news at San Diego Comic-Con, appearing on stage in Doctor Doom's mask and cloak.
Marvel has also announced several other upcoming films, including 'Captain America: Brave New World,' 'Thunderbolts,' and 'The Fantastic 4: First Steps.
' These films will introduce new faces and characters, such as Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, Florence Pugh in a leading role in 'Thunderbolts,' and Pedro Pascal making his Marvel debut. Despite a recent slowdown in profits, Marvel's latest release, 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' shows promising signs of a box office revival.
