The Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has clarified recent news regarding an oil tanker that arrived in the country but was subsequently sent back.
At a press conference on December 12, CPC Chairman Janaka Rajakaruna explained that the tanker in question was not imported by the Corporation and had no impact on the country's fuel supply.
Rajakaruna confirmed that the tanker, carrying 15,000 metric tons of petrol and 15,000 metric tons of diesel, was brought to Sri Lanka by United Petroleum Company. However, the tanker was sent back without unloading due to an inte al issue within the company.
He further assured the public that the situation would not affect fuel availability in the country, as the CPC maintains sufficient fuel stocks. Additionally, the Corporation has placed orders for oil supplies through April next year, ensuring continued fuel supply.
