The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement saying that a further development of the prevailing rain conditions throughout the island is expected today.

The announcement states that there will be rain or thundershowers in many parts of the island after 1.00 pm.

Some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Weste , North-West, North-Central and Uva Provinces may receive heavy rain of 100 mm.

In some places in the northe and easte provinces, rain is also possible in the mo ing.

People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
