The gove ment is all set to make obtaining Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) even easier.

Accordingly, the Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the people will be given the opportunity to get it from the Divisional Secretariats in the future.

The minister emphasized that only those whose monthly income is more than one lakh rupees will have to pay tax there.

It is mandatory for everyone above 18 years of age to obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) from January 1st.

However, party representatives and representatives of civil organizations say that the gove ment collects taxes unfairly by protecting large-scale businessmen who evade tax payments.
