A ship has caught fire in the sea off the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

Foreign media reported that the ship was carrying 3,000 vehicles, including 800 electric cars, to Mexico.

Although the crew began emergency firefighting procedures using the ship's fire suppression system, they were reportedly unable to control the fire.

As a result, 22 of the ship's crew abandoned the ship and escaped in lifeboats.
