Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, presiding over the budget speech, mentioned that a separate agency will be established to prepare guidelines for the procurement of medicines.
The President said that efforts are being made to bring medical research in Sri Lanka to the level of other countries and that 75 million rupees will be allocated for the initial phase and more will be allocated later.
It is also mentioned that Badulla will be given a heart and lung resuscitation unit and three hundred million rupees will be allocated for it.
Meanwhile, the President also mentioned that one hundred million rupees will be allocated to establish local Ayurvedic treatment centers in hotels to provide local and Ayurvedic treatment for tourists.
