Ministerial Council has approved the song 'Danno Buddunge' as a national heritage.

This decision has recognized that it is appropriate to name this song as a national heritage, which is included in the drama Sirisangabo composed by Mr. Vishwanath Loveji in the year 1903 by John de Silva Champion.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena also said that until the national anthem was used in this country, there was evidence that the song was used in festivals and other occasions as the same as the national anthem.

Taking into account all those reasons, the Ministerial Council has approved the designation of 'Danno Buddunge' song as a national heritage.
