50 Elephants Killed in 2024, CEB Seeks Public Help

The Sri Lanka Electricity Board (CEB) has reported that around 50 elephant deaths have occurred this year due to the use of unauthorized electric fences and wires.

In a statement issued today, the CEB emphasized that appropriate actions have already been taken to address these illegal activities. The board also highlighted the need for public cooperation in protecting the nation’s elephant population.

The CEB is urging the public to report any unauthorized connections of electricity to fences or wires. Individuals can provide information by calling the CEB hotline at 0112118767 or the emergency number 1987.
