The traffic police say that various people are making allegations against certain officers on traffic duty and that the truth or falsehood of those allegations can be verified by wearing cameras on the officers' uniforms.
Police sources said that each camera costs about one and a half lakh rupees.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic Control and Road Safety Indika Hapugoda stated that they are expecting to order 5,000 of these cameras from China.
It is reported that the Sri Lanka Police is also expecting to order more laser speed cameras from the United States in the future to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
