The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that foreign workers have sent a total of US$ 751.1 million in foreign remittances to Sri Lanka in January 2026.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka stated that accordingly, the amount of foreign remittances received by the country in January 2025 was recorded as US$ 573.0 million.

Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka further stated that there was an increase of US$ 178.1 million in foreign remittances in January 2026 compared to the same period last year.

It is also reported that US$ 378.3 million was ea ed as tourism income in January 2026.
