The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) announced that raids will begin today (10) to identify traders selling rice above the maximum prices set by the gove ment.
CAA Chairman Hemantha Samarakoon confirmed that the decision follows the issuance of a gazette notification yesterday (09), detailing the newly regulated rice prices. Legal action will be taken against those violating these price limits.
'We urge traders, manufacturers, and consumers to adhere to the announced prices. Any malpractice or overpricing can be reported to the Consumer Affairs Authority's hotline, 1977, or to our district and head offices,' said Samarakoon.
