The Court of Appeal has ordered the immediate release of a lawyer who was remanded by the Puttalam High Court for contempt of court.

It is reported that a bench of judges comprising Acting President of the Court of Appeal, Mohamed Lafar Tahir, and Priyantha Fe ando, issued this order after hearing a petition filed by the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Atto ey-at-Law Rajeeva Amarasuriya.

The court has also ordered the lawyer to appear before the Court of Appeal on April 28th after her release.
