The Ceylon Electricity Board has taken steps to suspend the services of 51 more electrical workers who protested against the restructuring of the Electricity Board.
Accordingly, it is reported that the number of CEB employees suspended for protesting on sick leave has increased to 66.
Yesterday, the board announced that 15 cash clerks were suspended for obstructing the payment of electricity bills by closing the cash windows during the recent protest.
This service has been suspended based on the instructions given by the Minister of Electricity Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera to the management of the Ceylon Electricity Board to suspend any employee who obstructs the services or acts in violation of the guidelines issued by the CEB management and take appropriate disciplinary measures.
