The police have taken steps to suspend traffic on the Somawathiya-Sungawila main road.

This is due to the road continuing to be submerged in water.

Due to the overflowing of the Mahaweli River, an area between 35 and 37 kilometers from the Diggala area on this road continues to be submerged by about 21/2 feet of water.
