Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayathissa has denied claims that gove ment MPs require permission to speak to the media.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (December 24), he clarified that there are no restrictions on MPs expressing their views.
Jayathissa's comments followed recent online discussions suggesting otherwise. He explained that while MPs are free to speak, a streamlined communication process is in place to ensure clarity and efficiency.
He emphasized that the weekly Cabinet briefing remains the main channel for announcing gove ment decisions, with ministers sharing additional updates through their respective ministries. Any perceived limitations, he noted, arise from practical time constraints rather than imposed restrictions.
