The Court of Appeal has ordered that the consideration of the petition filed by former Minister Udaya Gammanpila seeking an order preventing his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department under the United Nations Covenant on Civil and Political Rights be called on the 24th.

This was after considering a request made by President's Counsel Manohara de Silva, who appeared on behalf of petitioner Udaya Gammanpila.

The Criminal Investigation Department has also recently informed the Court of Appeal that no decision has been taken to arrest Udaya Gammanpila at this time.
