Visiting representatives from the Inte ational Monetary Fund (IMF) are set to meet with officials from the Ministry of Energy and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) today (21) mo ing.
According to KTM Udayanga Hemapala, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, the discussions will focus on revising electricity tariffs and assessing institutional procedures. Based on the IMF representatives’ input, a new proposal for tariff revisions will be finalized and submitted to the Public Utilities Commission in the coming days.
Previously, on October 24, the CEB proposed a 6.6% overall reduction in electricity tariffs.
However, the Public Utilities Commission deemed this reduction insufficient and requested a revised proposal.
