Legal experts in India say that laws are still not properly prepared to deal with violent crimes against women.
They made these comments based on an incident where a woman was stripped and assaulted earlier this month in India.
On December 11th, at around 1 am, a group of people took her out of the house and attacked her.
Foreign media reported that the woman who was attacked was 42 years old.
The attack happened because her 24-year-old son had eloped with his 18-year-old girlfriend.
It is said that she eloped on the day before the marriage of the girl with another young man.
Enraged over the incident, the girl's family members had beaten up the mother of the young man who eloped with her.
Later, the police took her to the hospital.
The foreign media reported that more than 12 people have been arrested in connection with the incident and a police officer has been suspended for dereliction of duty.
The gove ment had offered her land and compensation, stating that compensation could not compensate for the humiliation she had endured.
In addition, foreign media further mentioned that many incidents were reported in India in the past.
