The Minister of Public Security, Mr. Tiran Alles, says that intelligence agencies will be deployed to prevent violence against women in public transport.

The minister mentioned this while attending a workshop held to educate the community of the Gampaha area about police committees.

Also, the 109 hotline number has been introduced to raise awareness about the problems faced by women and children.

It is special that women police officers are in charge of receiving complaints.

The minister further mentioned that steps have been taken to investigate such complaints within 48 hours.
